Principal’s Message

It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to Joypur Panchanan Roy College, Howrah — an institution rooted in tradition, academic commitment, and social responsibility.

Established in the year 1986 with the noble vision of expanding access to higher education with only two rooms made of bamboo and tin shed in a predominantly rural belt of Howrah district, the college has steadily evolved into a centre of learning that blends heritage with modernity. Since its inception, the institution has worked tirelessly to uplift first-generation learners and economically underprivileged students, who constitute a significant portion of our academic community. Over the decades, the college has built a reputation for discipline, inclusivity, and academic integrity.

The college primarily serves the vast rural hinterland of Howrah district and adjoining areas. The region is characterized by agrarian communities, small businesses, and emerging semi-urban settlements. A large segment of our students come from socially and economically modest backgrounds, including first-generation college-goers, women learners, and students belonging to diverse linguistic and cultural communities. This demographic diversity enriches our campus life and reinforces our commitment to equitable and inclusive education.

At Joypur Panchanan Roy College, we believe that education is not merely the acquisition of degrees but the cultivation of character, competence, and compassion. With the collective efforts of our dedicated faculty, supportive staff, alumni, and well-wishers, we continue to strive toward academic distinction and social transformation.

We offer Undergraduate Courses of studies in Arts and Commerce with major subjects in Bengali, Education, English, History, Philosophy and Commerce subjects. We have Physical Education, Geography, Sanskrit and Political Science as minor subjects. We have Six units of NSS and Very recently we added NCC, Senior Division in the college.
